NZ’s Premier Boat Show in great shape 64 years on!

The Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show, New Zealand’s longest running, largest and most popular boat show is about to be held, in the same venue, for its 64th consecutive year!

First held way back in 1956, the show has always been a very good barometer of the health of the New Zealand recreational marine industry. In 2019, it is showing an industry in exceptionally good shape. Despite occupying virtually every square metre of the giant ASB Showgrounds site in Auckland, the show has been completely sold out for months.

The show has always been the one at which the vast majority of Kiwi boat builders choose to unveil their newest models for the first time. Again, the 2019 show is no exception.

“Boat manufacturers from the country’s far north right down to Invercargill, the world’s southern-most city, will again be at the show in force,” says general manager, Dave Gibbs. “They will all be determined to showcase their latest offerings to what they know will be a very receptive market.”

While a lot of the show’s decades’ long popularity is due to the wide range of new boats, engines, electronics and accessories on display, it is the event’s unique combination of mouth-watering prizes, helpful information hubs and fun interactivity that ensures its audience continues to grow.

Among a huge range of must-be-won prizes on offer in 2019 is the truly incredible Surtees/Yamaha Grand Prize. Consisting of a 7.5m Surtees 750 Game Fisher, twin Yamaha 150hp 4-stroke outboards, Yamaha’s new Helm Master boat control system and much, much more, the Grand Prize is worth a cool $250,000!

“This is surely the most valuable prize ever given away at any boat show, anywhere in the world, ever,” says Dave Gibbs.

Among numerous other attractions this year is a non-stop programme of helpful advice from top Kiwi fishing experts in the packed Master Class free seminar series, a 20m-round demonstration pool and the chance for people to pilot an underwater ROV (remotely operated vehicle).

The Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat show will be held at the Greenlane Show Grounds, Greenlane Road, Auckland, May 16-19 with gates opening at 10.00am.
