Busy Times at Smuggler Marine

Barry 2018-08-02

Smuggler Marine have recently delivered a Strata 550 RIB to the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, to be used in their sailing programme as a support tender, plus are nearing the end of a build of two Strata 650 tenders.

Finished to Smuggler’s high standard, the RIB is fitted with a Yamaha F60, stainless bimini, leaning helm-bar, and hypalon carbon styled tubes - complete with the Squadron’s logo and burgee. The impressive RNZYS sailing fleet will be classed up a few more notches with the addition of the Smuggler to their programme.

Smuggler are nearing the end of a build of two Strata 650 tenders for the superyacht Dardanella. These dynamic looking RIBs have been styled to suit the eccentric design of the mother ship. One will be a designated charcoal dive and crew tender, the other a bright yellow and black expedition / guest tender with a wrap-around console to keep the owner cosy and dry.

Both are fitted with Yanmar 240hp 4LH-STP stern drive engines, Simrad NSS9 touchscreen and VHF. With the impeccable finish and styling Smuggler delivers on all their tenders, these two RIBs will certainly get a lot of attention.

Smuggler Marine also have an impressive 9m RIB currently under construction. Complete with 500 horsepower from twin Evinrude ETEC 250s it also will boast a full Simrad package including NSS16 touchscreen with X-Sonic B275 transducer, Structure Scan 3D, CHIRP sonar,  4G Broadband radar, autopilot and VHF.

The owner has requested a sleeping arrangement inside the console, along with a custom built in cooking facility in the seat. Fishing accessories are plentiful as this will primarily be a fishing boat with extras, so the owner can reach those far off spots and stay this night if needed. To make sure his boat is a real head turner, the stainless will be bright orange, with orange accents on the upholstery, engine and hull. Look out for it at the Auckland On Water Boat Show in September, you won’t be able to miss it!
